Baroness Joanna Shields OBE is a leading figure in technology and government with nearly four decades of experience driving technological innovation. She has held senior executive roles at Facebook, Google, and AOL, and was CEO of Veon, Bebo, and BenevolentAI. Her career in public service spans the past decade, during which she served as the UK’s first Minister for Internet Safety & Security and Ambassador for Digital Industries and as a life peer in the House of Lords. Passionate about protecting children from online abuse and exploitation, she founded the WeProtect Global Alliance and co-chaired the Global Partnership on AI. Joanna also serves on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on AI, focusing on responsible AI development, ethics, and human empowerment.
